Where do you live? I live in Tampere.
Where do you work? I work for the Adult Education Institute of the City of Tampere.
Who do you work for? (Tampereen työväenopisto)
This is what we usually ask people when we ask these questions. So, please, use the present simple.
Tätä me yleensä kysymme, kun kysymme nämä kysymykset. Joten, käytäthän yleispreesensiä.
For some reason, we Finns too often use the present continuous. If you use that tense, you refer to a temporary situation.
Jostain syystä me suomalaiset käytämme liian usein kestopreesensiä. Jos käytät tätä aikamuotoa, viittaat väliaikaiseen tilanteeseen.
Where are you living (now, last year you were living in Mänttä, and the year before in Honolulu)?
I'm living in Tampere. (I got bored with the nightlife in Mänttä. And in Honolulu it was too hectic at night.)
Where are you working (now, you keep changing your employer!!)?
I'm working for the City of Tampere (but it's only for this autumn, after that I hope some other municipality (kunta) will employ me - like Mänttä, Vilppula, Ruovesi and Vammala did before Tampere).
General
What are your hobbies? What are you interested in? What do you go in for?
I'm interested in languages. I study languages. I study English.
At the moment (even if not right now) (temporary - väliaikaista)
This autumn I'm studing English on a suggestopedic course called Englannin helppo suggestopedinen kurssi .
This autumn I'm studying English grammar.
This autumn I'm activating my speaking skills in English. I'm taking part in a course called Chit-chat on Monday Evening.
This autumn I'm studying English. Last autumn I was studying German.
