hello again from the Poole Pirate. This message will be very brief, as it is not clear to me how to send it, which I am finding very annoying! It is Easter, and I am hoping to get some Easter Eggs, but am not at all optimistic! I had planned afew longer trips by car but there is a little problem (I hope!), with the sparking plugs, and therefore my trips will be short, perhaps some cliff walks. My lounge is being redecorated, and soon it will be the turn of the kitchen and small toilet. Yes, I am using the Passive, it is not me that is doing it, and I am a little bit ashamed, but only a litle bit. We have had yet another relatively easy winter and Spring is well advanced. Have a lovely Easter everybody and enjoy your "Mammi". I used to enjoy that dish.

Hi everybody!
It's Easter still - and the weather has been - and still is gorgeous: sunshine and again sunshine.
As to Easter eggs, we all had some chocolate ones which were well appreciated. The kids got some from the 'witch' - they found those chocolate eggs under their beds one morning - and that seemed to give "the touch" to their Easter. In addition to that some winter-fishing on the ice, bobsledding down the slope and good meals.
It was my turn to be ill, and I spent my time sleeping, reading and getting up for brief intervals when it was meal-time. Enjoyable!! (very much so, if you had to be ill anyway!)
By the way, after many a year, we had some 'mämmi' - and it was ever so good! (made by Aallon leipomo in Tampere).
Take care!
Ritva
PS. This had so much about Easter that I'm going to publish this and Poole Pirate's message on This and that forum, too.

hello folks,
I tried to send quite a long (for me) message a couple of weeks ago, but I could not for the life of me find out how to send it!
My football team Derby County are in the "Play-Offs", they have a chance of returning to the Premiership. First they must beat Preston in a two legged match and then thay must beat West Ham or Ipswich in the Play-Off final. It is a lot to ask, but I am just thrilled that after many years in the doldrums, they are a force in the land once more. The games will be shown on SKY, which I don't have (or like!), but my local pub will show the games, and so it as an excuse for a beer or two.
I have been doind a little bit of bird watching, a little bit of work, a little bit of domestic travel.
Our weather is mostly sunny, but some very chilly winds. The sea is 12oC; too cold for this old bean to take a dip, but like eating cake to you Rauhaniemilaiset!
We had an election last week and all the three main parties appeared to have virtually the same message. Well, it is the Socialists again but with a smaller majority. I think Mr Blair will call it a day in about a year, and then it will be Gordon Brown I suppose. He is witout much charm, in my opinion, but he has handled the finances well, so far.
Now I have to go to a meeting, and will cut this message short. Anyway, i am not optimistic that I will be able to send it!!

Hi Poole Pirate
sometimes Derby wins as well, doesn't it. And sometimes the weather is not lousy.
Today the weather here could be called lousy - cold, too cold for the beginning of the school summer holidays. It's not raining anyway - at the moment.
The school summer holidays have started. My nephew Mikael from Pori is here in Tampere with us, sleeping at the moment and gathering strength to make the most of Särkänniemi tomorrow together with my daughters.
Perhaps I should do the same.
Good night.
